# How do I measure my ring size at home?

**Quick answer:** Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in millimetres. Match it to the chart below to find your US size, then read the Egyptian and Italian size beside it. If you land between two sizes, go for the larger one.

## How do I measure my finger with paper?

1. Cut a thin strip of paper, about 15 cm long.
2. Wrap it around the base of the finger you will wear the ring on, usually the ring finger.
3. Mark the point where the two ends overlap.
4. Flatten the paper and measure the length to the nearest millimetre. This is your inside circumference.
5. Match the number to the chart below.
6. If your knuckle is wider than the base of the finger, measure the knuckle too and use the larger of the two numbers.

## What mistakes make a ring fit wrong?

- **Measuring with string.** It stretches. Use paper.
- **Measuring a cold or swollen finger.** Measure at room temperature, in the afternoon or evening, because fingers swell in the heat.
- **Measuring the wrong finger.** Measure the finger you plan to wear the ring on.
- **Choosing by feel alone.** A ring should slide over the knuckle without force, then sit at the base of the finger without spinning freely.

## What if I am between two sizes?

Go for the larger size. A ring that is slightly roomy is easy to live with, while one that is too tight is uncomfortable and hard to remove. Still unsure? Message us before you order and we will help you pick.

## Can I measure a ring I already own?

Yes. Measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits you, in millimetres, and match it to the diameter column in the chart.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the men's ring size in Egypt?

Our chart lists Egyptian and Italian sizes together. Our steel rings come in US sizes 8 to 12, which match Egyptian and Italian sizes 17, 19, 22, 25 and 27.

### Should a ring be tight?

No. It should be snug, not pinched, and it should not spin freely on the finger.

### What if I am between two sizes?

Go for the larger size.

### Can I measure with a string?

Avoid string because it stretches. A thin strip of paper gives a more accurate result.

### When is the best time to measure my finger?

In the afternoon or evening at room temperature. Fingers swell in the heat and shrink in the cold, so avoid measuring right after a shower or outdoors in summer.

### How do I convert a US ring size to an Egyptian size?

Use the chart above. US 8 is 17, US 9 is 19, US 10 is 22, US 11 is 25 and US 12 is 27.
